Robbery/Home Invasion

On February 14, 2017, at approximately 10:29 PM, a robbery, and home invasion, occurred in the Cross Creek condominium complex, located on Broad Avenue in this City, just north of the Leonia border.

Patrol Officers and Detectives responded to the location and determined that a husband and wife had been assaulted and held at gunpoint by three gloved and partially-masked black males, possibly in their late teens or early twenties. The chain of events are as follows:

At approximately 10:00 PM, the husband, age 30, was unloading items from his vehicle just outside of his residence when the suspects, all of whom were armed with handguns, surrounded him and announced a robbery. The victim was forcibly taken back into his residence by the males where his wife, age 33, was located by one of the attackers. She was then, also forcibly, held at gunpoint while the suspects searched their home and demanded cash and valuables. Both victims were held against their will for approximately one-half hour. The suspects eventually fled with valuables. The couple did not sustain any serious injuries. The Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit later responded and assisted City Detectives with a forensic evidence investigation.

City Detectives have recovered nearby Ring.com video evidence of the suspects leaving the area after the robbery - https://ring.com/share/2123862490. There is additional video evidence that our Detectives are attempting to recover which we hope will help us identify these suspects and bring them all to justice.

Both private security and police patrols have been increased in the area. In conjunction with the management staff at Cross Creek, we are urging residents to be extra aware of their surroundings when entering or exiting their homes. There have been no similar occurrences recently in the area. Residents, visitors, and complex staff are being asked to report any suspicious activity to the Englewood Police Department via 9-1-1 or 201-568-2700.
